Opposing pitcher: Dylan Covey (R)
The Diamondbacks will be one of the more popular stacks of the evening as they get a home matchup with rookie righthander Dylan Covey. The rookie righty has had a rocky start to his MLB career with a 7.64 ERA this season. Opposing hitters have also crushed 11 homeruns in 35 innings off Covey. The D’backs offense is a little weakened without AJ Pollock but they still have a lot of weapons. With Covey’s 41.8% hard-hit rate allowed to righties, Paul Goldschmidt, Yasmany Tomas and Chris Owings are my favorite options and I expect most of them to see high ownership. Jake Lamb and David Peralta always hit righties well and make for a great option to round out the Arizona stack.
Paul Goldschmidt .472 WOBA, .313 ISO
Jake Lamb .458 WOBA, .342 ISO
Yasmany Tomas .392 WOBA, .300 ISO
David Peralta .387 WOBA, .175 ISO
Expected ownership: High
New York Mets
Opposing pitcher: Jhoulys Chacin (R)
Jhoulys Chacin has been solid so far this season, however he has always been worse against lefthanded hitters over his career and this year has been no different. Lefties have a WOBA of over .130 points higher this season and have a 34.6 hard-hit rate compared with just an 18.8 hard-hit rate for righties. The New York Mets fortunately have a lot of good lefthanded hitters we can target including the red hot Michael Conforto as well as Jay Bruce, Curtis Granderson, Neil Walker and Jose Reyes. Bruce and Conforto are my favorite options as both have an ISO of over .300 and have the power to take advantage of Chacin’s hard contact rate.
Michael Conforto .433WOBA, .318 ISO
Jay Bruce .410 WOBA, .339 ISO
Curtis Granderson .275 WOBA, .198 ISO
Neil Walker .306 WOBA, .161 ISO
Expected ownership: Low
Boston Red Sox
Opposing pitcher: Andrew Cashner (R)
Andrew Cashner has been one of the luckiest pitchers in the league this season with his ERA of 2.45 almost three full runs better than his FIP. However pitching in Fenway Park tonight against a strong Red Sox offense Cashner might see his run of good luck end. Lefties have a 31.3% hard contact rate against Cashner so Andrew Benintendi, Mitch Moreland and Jackie Bradley are in play along with the usual Red Sox stars such as Mookie Betts, Hanley Ramirez and Xander Bogaerts. The Red Sox bats are expensive and might go slightly overlooked today while people look to use Arizona hitters and Clayton Kershaw in their lineups.
Mookie Betts .376 WOBA, .214 ISO
Andrew Benintendi .346 WOBA, .165 ISO
Jackie Bradley .250 WOBA, .146 ISO
Hanley Ramirez .346 WOBA, .168 ISO
Expected ownership: Medium
