Houston Astros

Opposing pitcher: Hisashi Iwakuma (R)

Veteran right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma gets the start tonight against the Houston Astros on the road at Minute Maid Park. In 2016 Iwakuma saw his ERA rise for the fourth straight season and gave up the hardest contact of his career. He also posted a K% of just 17.6% which was a career low. The increase in hard contact and the decrease in K% resulted in Iwakuma giving up the most HR/9 in his major league career.

The Houston Astros meanwhile fortified their offense with veteran hitters such as Brian McCann, Josh Reddick and Carlos Beltran. Those three join established stars Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa to give the Astros a deep lineup. Altuve especially has had Iwakuma’s number in the past with a .421 average and seven of his 16 hits going for extra bases.

Jose Altuve .395 WOBA, .196 ISO

Carlos Correa .360 WOBA, .186 ISO

Alex Bregman .344 WOBA, .228 ISO

Carlos Beltran .340 WOBA, .204 ISO

Expected ownership: MEDIUM
