Stacks of the Night: Tuesday April 18th

Good morning and welcome to the “Stacks of the Night”! This article will provide you with some team stacks that I am looking to get exposure to today.  Before we dig in, check out our amazing offers we have for MLB!

Baltimore Orioles

Opposing pitcher: Bronson Arroyo (R)

The Baltimore Orioles take on Bronson Arroyo and the Cincinnati Reds tonight at the hitter friendly Great American Ballpark. Arroyo has been awful for Cincinnati in his first two starts in 2017 pitching to a xFIP of 6.02 while giving up 11 runs in 10 innings with four homeruns allowed. Things do not get any easier for Arroyo tonight against a powerful Orioles team that led the league in homeruns last season and has already belted 18 in 11 games this season. All the Orioles hitters are in play tomorrow and I expect most of them to see high ownership especially Manny Machado, Mark Trumbo and Chris Davis.

Chris Davis .352 WOBA, .264 ISO

Manny Machado .359 WOBA, .252 ISO

Mark Trumbo .391 WOBA, .300 ISO

Adam Jones .338 WOBA, .195 ISO

Expected Ownership: High

Cleveland Indians

Opposing pitcher: Phil Hughes (R)

Phil Hughes has won both his first two starts this season and has a 3.86 ERA however when we look deeper into the stats we see regression may be coming. Hughes xFIP of 4.93 is over a run higher than his ERA while his hard-hit rates are extremely high at 45.8% to right handed hitters and a staggering 58.3% to left handed hitters. Michael Brantley had an average exit velocity of 96.7 mph against Hughes while Francisco Lindor was at 106.7 mph and both hitters should be used in any Cleveland stack. A hitter from Cleveland who should fly under the radar is Abraham Almonte who has a 101.7 mph exit velocity facing Hughes.

Francisco Lindor .351 WOBA, .139 ISO

Michael Brantley .386 WOBA, .187 ISO (2015 stats)

Edwin Encarnacion .370 WOBA, .276 ISO

Jose Ramirez .351 WOBA, .146 ISO

Expected Ownership: Medium

New York Mets

Opposing pitcher: Zach Eflin (R)

In his brief major league career Zach Eflin has shown some major deficiencies against left handed hitters with a K% of only 6.8% and above average fly ball and hard hit rates. Unfortunately for Eflin the Mets are loaded with left handed hitters. Curtis Granderson, Asdrubal Cabrera and Jose Reyes each had an average exit velocity of over 95 mph in limited at bats against Eflin last season. Add in fellow lefties Jay Bruce, Neal Walker and Lucas Duda and right handed slugger Yoenis Cespedes and this could be a rough outing for Eflin.

Yoenis Cespedes .352 WOBA, .244 ISO

Jay Bruce .361 WOBA, .283 ISO

Asdrubal Cabrera .342 WOBA, .208 ISO

Lucas Duda .328 WOBA, .195 ISO

Expected Ownership: Low
