With a short slate tonight and just 8 games, we have a bunch of solid pitchers which will make sifting through to find some stacks a little less fun. I feel there are a lot of bats and stacks tonight worth using and with a little bit of extra research, we should be able to take advantage.
vs. Brandon Finnegan (L)
Well, here we have the biggest chalk stack of the night. Brandon Finnegan has been a gas can this season that is consistently worth picking on. He’s got a 36.1% hard hit rate to go along with a 23.8% line drive rate. That is a recipe for disaster as getting hit hard and giving up that many line drives not only will lead to HR’s, but also allows for teams to start a rally and really rack up the runs. With his slate-worst 11% walk rate and inability to strike batters out, I think the Nationals could really explode tonight.
Washington is 4th on the slate with a team wOBA of .344 vs. left-handed pitchers. Along with that, they have just a 19.3% strikeout rate, good for 7th best on the slate. Perhaps the scariest stat of them all is that the Nationals have the highest ISO against left-handed pitchers with a beastly .206. They will be popular tonight, but I cannot see any way Finnegan and the horrific Reds bullpen shuts down the Nationals. These are my top 5 batters that just mash lefties.
Jayson Werth: .292 ISO, .478 wOBA, 52.5% HH rate, 205 wRC+
Anthony Rendon: .123 ISO, .368 wOBA, 45.7% HH rate, 130 wRC+
Daniel Murphy: ,170 ISO, .361 wOBA, 32.1% HH rate, 125 wRC+
Bryce Harper: .240 ISO, .349 wOBA, 29.3% HH rate, 117 wRC+
M. A. Taylor: .263 ISO, .358 wOBA, 42.4% HH rate, 123 wRC+
