New York Mets
One of my favorite plays of the day are the Mets for a few reasons. First off, they are going to be facing Jerad Eickhoff, who is coming off a highly successful start where he was highly owned. I expect his ownership to be high again, but in Eickhoff’s first game of the season he was mediocre against the same Mets team going 5 innings and giving up five hits and three runs in the process. Secondly, the Mets should be fairly low owned because of this. Factoring both of these things in, if Eickhoff is fairly high owned and the Mets manage to score some runs against him it will put your lineup in a very nice spot early. That’s why I would want to use the top of the order in Granderson, Wright, Cespedes, Duda, and Conforto.
St. Louis Cardinals
On paper this seems like a fairly tough matchup for the Cardinals as John Lackey makes his return to St. Louis for the first time since signing with the Cubs in the offseason. Lackey has been very up and down in his two starts this season but he has a decent pedigree so it would make me think the Cardinals will be under owned tonight. Not only that the Cards have been swinging very hot bats so it is definitely a team I want some exposure too. I would go right to the top of Carpenter, Hazelbaker, Holliday, Moss, Piscotty. I will say this, if you do want to get even more creative with the stack I don’t mind using Wong and Diaz and then using the top three of the order. That would be another way to get lower owned exposure to a team in a good matchup.
The Reds are projected for 4.5 runs tonight against Jordan Lyles and the Rockies. The top five of the Reds order is a fairly inexpensive stack which would allow you to get a higher priced pitcher like Jose Fernandez or Noah Syndergaard in your lineup. In terms of facing the Rockies and Lyles, they are away from Coors however I do no believe that Lyles is good enough to keep the Reds bats down. That’s why I’m going for the top five of Cozart, Pacheco, Votto, Phillips, and Bruce.
The Rockies are away from the friendly confines of Coors Field tonight and they are facing Dan Straily who is only $4,000 on Draft Kings tonight. Are the Rockies over priced tonight? Yes, but they are facing a pitcher who will be chalky tonight on Draft Kings just by default because of his price. That is why I do not mind spending up to get some Rockies into my lineup because I would imagine their ownership will be lower than normal. If you do use the Rockies and a top tier pitcher you will have to drop down a little bit on your second pitcher but there is some decent value tonight so it doesn’t worry me that much. In terms of who to use tonight, I would attack it two ways. If Ben Paulsen is in the lineup batting sixth. I would go for Story, Arenado, Cargo, Parra, and Paulsen. If Paulsen is not in the lineup I would just swap him for whoever is batting lead off and using a complete top of the order stack.
Good luck tonight and if you have any questions feel free to ask me on Twitter, @jrh002DFS.
