Driver Picks: Citizen Soldier 400 at Dover

Well what a fun weekend this is turning into at Dover! The weather has reared its ugly head once again. The line-up is set on owner’s points as qualifying was due to weather. I’m going to keep it short and sweet, so here we go!

Kevin Harvick: $10,900

Harvick is the most expensive driver once again, and for good reason. In the last six races alone he has an average finish of 5.67 with 383 laps led. In that time he also has two wins and five Top 5’s, finished outside of the Top 10 once. To put it simply, he is absolutely on fire and I don’t see that changing tomorrow.

Kevin has really turned things on over the last few races here at Dover. He has led no less than 91 laps in the last four races and 117 or more three times. In that stretch he has a win and two Top 5’s. His other two finishes were 13th and 15th place runs, but we all saw what happened in May. The “Big One” that occurred on the front stretch ended Harvick’s chance of a win after leading 117 laps.

The good news is Harvick was very happy with his car in the first practice. The team knew weather could be an issue and ran most of practice in race trim. Kevin will roll off 6th on Sunday providing him a good chance to find his way to the front early. When not starting on the pole, he has performed very well when starting inside the Top 6. In four of those specific instances he finished no worse than fourth. There are many formidable low-price options to fit Harvick into your line-ups tomorrow and considering the circumstances, this should be an easy choice.
