Four games on tap tonight, and from my early estimation, no overly obvious chalky spots. Game theory always plays a much bigger role on smaller slates like this, so don’t be afraid to get a little different with your lineup construction.
PIT2: Hornqvist-Malkin-Hagelin, $17.3K: If you could run some numbers on my most frequently played player this season, it’d be Evgeni Malkin without a doubt. The Penguins have established some stability with their lines finally, and this one has been excellent, even when playing the “shutdown” role. PIT2 has controlled 62% of possession over the past three weeks and they’re generating plenty of scoring chances as well. They’ll get a plus matchup vs. Ovechkin and Kuznetsov today – they’ve been fine defensively in two games with Tom Wilson, but the larger sample suggests these two are a very exploitable 5v5 matchup. Braden Holtby has really struggled away from home this season, and this is a pretty strong special teams matchup for the Penguins as well. This may be a somewhat popular spot tonight, but it’s a really good one. D-man Correlation Play: Kris Letang, $5,500 (PP?) & Justin Schultz, $3,800 (PP?)
